Darn, you noticed that one too Shocked The skinnies are all out of the bunch of lease cows that are running here. Funny that because they were raised tougher than the farao program so shouldn't they be fat and sassy because they passed that rigorous testing? Isn't that how it works? scratch

Dylan, I'll try to get the pictures of Bigg's Sky Country up tomorrow, I was busy this weekend scouting locations for 2015.  TD

My cows are getting restless - caught this bunch sneaking out across the river last night. Getting to that time of year, had our first frost last night, grass was white and ice coating the windshields this morning. Our last sub zero day was June 11th.

Eddie Draper checked in today for an O Canada Gathering update; offer up his excuse of a family vacation conflict {what:?: Question ..instead of being with us:?: Smile } and says hello to all...
and is very amendable to a future gathering at Wye...surely we could all sponge off the university for free seafood if we traveled that far...and still might not match the free food we had in Canada...thanks again to the cooking crews for that cheers

free seafood?? pay now or pay later... 3 free lobster tails at LaGrand's first sale cost me plenty.

would have to be a month that has an R in it for the raw oysters. Very Happy

still not rented the movie to try and get that glimpse of Dylan`s dad on the big Hollywood screen from his early days in Banff...I wonder what our three Canadian host will be recounting on  video in 30 years...Question Question
here`s hoping that their writing at KC doesn`t dominish their prospects of someday being included in the Alberta Order of Excellence ...cheers

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
the thought occurred to me that it might be the same one; but I thought...what the heck; we need a post ? so carelessness played an equal role to dementia ...anything to avoid dementia; I`ve been dealing with a 93 year old aunt with dementia...happily though, she`s in a state of youthful bliss; busy with coloring books, and playing with dominos...and just yesterday she told me she was thinking of getting into the registered Angus business Very Happy

FOLLOW UP...

A long long time ago
I can still remember
How this picture used to make me smile

And I knew that if I had one chance
I could make all those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for awhile

Did you write the book of pedigree
And do you have faith in more than you see
If the breeding tells you so ?

Now do you believe in the sacred scrolls
or that numbers can save your mortal soul
And can they teach you to go real slow ?

quite the contrast, is he not
from all those fat bulls ready to pop
I thought I was out of luck,
the day, pre-poooo-ten-cy died...

I started THINKING
Bye bye , nothing to do but sigh,
This will be the day that I die
This will be the day that I die

BUT IT WASN`T  Very Happy

A less inbred , in herd produced, son of the little bull in use now at Craig`s Alberta farm ...
dead centered characteristics of the Shoshone gene pool, the athletic , moderate type I prefer to make females with...
you can have your fat tank types, wonderful for terminal grass fed use, but I'll pass on the resulting cows just as Bonsma did...
notice the Alberta summer hair coat; functional cattle SHED their hair in summer...NORTH to Alberta, go North the rush is on Smile

too bad the ............... and many more couldn`t take the heat to stick around long enough to see what got cooked up in the kitchen...of course, they moved on
to greater things ,POTPORRI,  and I`m still stuck in the kitchen...thanks to CHEFS that endure here with me...

I think it's awesome that these people see Canada as the land of opportunity. We have plenty room as far as i'm concerned - my neighbours not so much. Tough going for the 19 that walked into Manitoba last Tuesday during our epic 36 hour white-out (basically a hurricane on land with sub zero temps.) To think some of these people walked across Africa or Asia then flew to South America before walking to Canada. Incredible tale of endurance - isn't that the spirit that drove your ancestors here to the "New World"?
