Thinking about it I've got a cousin who tracks caribou and musk ox movements in the high Artic for a living but I don't think she is involved in any breeding projects with them so I don't think it's her.

Grassfarmer guessed my location correctly, Calgary, Alberta

Actually farther south than both Iain and Dylan. And warmer in the winter.

Mike, I am glad I was able to get a word in edge wise and make my position clear! Down to the bone. Larry's point, mate functional bulls to cows of the same type and realize that what is.... is, may be as close to the bone as a guy actually needs to get. But heck how much fun would that be. So come ready to cuss and discuss the good, the bad and the ugly and join me in my tormented next to the bone process of figuring out if the ugly is bad or actually good. Iain, Hilly and I will be getting together shortly to come up with a plan for the specifics of the KC Canada gathering. Happy New Year everyone!

Don't think I will be able to make the trip into Canada, I don't think the queen will let me in. Anyway we are near Williston on MT side. right off highway 2. Feel free to drop by if you need to let your legs stretch from driving or need help. Keeney this means you and others.

the Star Spangled Banner provides excellent voice preparation; and if you need a voice teacher, I suggest this 9 year old that lives out your way WT...

Been singing OCanada wont you go back home since the 24th. The weatherman said it would be 40 for the high and 10 for the low and missed it by a bit as they seem to do-18 for a low and +6 for a high. That DV weather stone came through in a big way we have had over 2" of moisture in Dec wirth 22 days of precip. Then it got cold to welcome in the new year. O Canada O canada wont you go back home soon.

Yeah, we had a steady two weeks of that up until the 29th. We're having balmy temperatures of 5F highs to 26F lows just now but looks like you're sending our weather back to us in a week or so WT. Its funny to see the weaned calves panting on these "warmer" days with their heavy coats. A lot of them were lying in the snow sunbathing today, just enjoying the respite from winter.

Its a good deal for us to get cold, too many people dont understand that some seeds need to freeze to open so they will germinate in the spring. Then there are the Morman Crickets. When it gets below zero there eggs freeze and they die controling the population. They can be devastaing eating everything in there march across the land. And when it gets real cold they are kept in check for another year. So not bitching here just happy to have snow this year. We had no precip for 4 months straight last year. And this is a start but just a start. So bring on the cold and the snow and let the creeks raise and the rivers flood we need it.

Chatted with Eddie Draper...planning on being there...always a treat to visit with anyone that doesn`t have to be looking for bulls outside the herd...Eddie`s forthright comments about the Wye herd and selection at previous Gatherings have been very much appreciated...

Wasn't me anyway, maybe a cousin or maybe a potential cattle customer who works up there? It sure felt like we were in the artic yesterday with that delightful -42F (with windchill) day. Snowed a foot today and supposed to be above freezing by the weekend. This is our season of challenges to an animals constitution whereas most of you suffer summer heat challenges. For those of you who make it up to Canada next summer just remember our cattle don't live in luxury year round.

Yep about the same here...

This is what we are looking forward to for tomorrow morning...Even cancelled the weekly cow sale....
And I agree with you on the challenges- it was mid 20's and beautiful Monday, blizzarding yesterday, cold today, and predicting colder than well diggers arse for tonite and tomorrow....BUT- saying back up in the 30's by Friday... Shocked
These 50-60 degree temp swings have to be challenging for cattle...

WRONG again WT-- I hate TEA...Coffee is my morning drink before going out into it - and after coming back in...Not much of a beer drinker (altho I drank gallons years ago)-- but still do like to have a snort of good Canadian blend/Rye now and then... Prefer R & R....

Well I do too have a lovely brunette- and spent the evening in town with many old friends planning a 45th class reunion party- which we will hold at the D & L Angus barns-- and since one of our classmates invested our class funds right - we have gobs of money--- and decided rather than act like you or some of the old fogies on here looking for backers or friends--- we were going to spend it and have a hell of a summer party with our real old friends......

45th class reunion? So that makes you about 63??? You ain't no fricken Oldtimer, you're a baby boomer! Why, you're younger than Keeney, and he's still sexually active. Wilford Brimley would be ashamed, you fraud.
