there is at least one thing Tennessee does better than anyone...

http://www.olesmokymoonshine.com/varieties/

reckon you can fly Apple Pie Moonshine across the border?

I had to call my mom`s attention to a little piece in the local paper yesterday under Pulaski County`s past...
from 1921
The Somerset Journal

March 4, 1921

Find Still.

Officers J.M. Weddle, Chas. Winfrey, John Bash and Silas West captured a still on Fishing Creek Monday night. It was located in a dug out in the bank of the creek. The officers found three barrels containing 150 gallons of beer. Chester Yanders was arrested and he gave bond Tuesday.

Chester was my mom`s dad...she was born in 1929...Chester died of a massive stroke in 1933 leaving my dearest grandma to fend with 8 kids...they all made it; typical story of that era...I think "beer" was known as "homebrew"; maybe not...

Mike flying it over the border is no problem, getting it through customs once you are back on the ground is a bit trickier. Smile

Interesting story. Quite the grandma no doubt!!!!

We can arrange beer if customs keeps yours. Smile

I was holding out hope that Hilly would buy that $10,000 bull calf I had born the other day...pay my way; plus, I priced him as a baby, in hopes we could fly him over the border as well.. Smile
.buying my tickets tonight...still $521 SDF-CAL...

saw the 'wem' bit in the web address and thought "small world, my dad was born in Wem, Shropshire, England and there's a Wem in Canada, only to be disappointed that it is the west edmonton mall.......

On another subject Mike could always use the bull calf as an apple pie mule Smile Not a bad price for a ticket in the height of summer.

I did a little more recruiting yesterday of thinking breeders up Havre, MT way; they took the bait, but careful to not attempt to set the hook Smile ...lots of questions and theories discussed in our phone conversation; showing great potential for unintimidated, thoughtful discussions in O Canada thanks to the invitations of our hosts, Craig, Iain, and Dylan, to do just that... cheers

Craig,
I need two rooms for three nights in Sylvan; July 31 {if possible}, Aug 1, 2...one room for Aug 1, 2; will check if the IN friends need July 31 as well...
I`ll book my own tee times depending upon what times Iain is available to caddy Smile
It looks as if there may be no room in Drum Heller for us on Saturday night; I find an ironic bit of encouragement in that Smile

the good O Canada news today is that, thanks to one of our regular, and among our most helpful Gathering members, we might be able to have a mobile hospitality room in Canada... pending Ms Lisa`s approval, of course Smile
if we spring for the gas and the beer, surely Briann can`t say no Wink

Irregular contributor here. Winter may actually turn to summer. 6 full months of snow was starting to convince me that summer may never come. Spring is way overrated anyway, it just dries things out if it warms up early. Longer daylight hours and the odd spell of sunshine have lightened my mood. This is the view on the prairie yesterday. Snow had decided to leave only 3 days earlier. Turned out the yearlings just 2 days before. Two weeks yet to green grass then a mere 5 weeks before the days start getting shorter again. Holy shit!! Below is the view today. I have some inbred sire daughter first and second calf heifers calving this month so we will have some interesting inbreds to look at and discuss as well as the cocktail critters and no shortage of topics churning through my mind.

You stole our weather this winter Dylan, all that moisture should make the desert bloom again. Been quite nice here of late and is changing quickly. Still needed the cordless drill to put in electric fence posts Tuesday of last week - will be seeding barley tomorrow. Crazy canuck climate.

Iain, even though 6 months of winter is a marathon, I am not giving it back. The green grass when it comes will be worth it. A blooming desert! Very Happy

Only in Canada - unseasonably warm temperatures today see kids taking to Sylvan Lake to cool off - note the ice in the background Shocked Jeez I find it cold enough to swim there in August never mind when the ice cap is still on.

Very thankful this got contained on my brothers. Lots of fuel and a pretty stiff wind.

Overflow out of a DU project, must have been some food there. Photo by my daughter Jocelyn.

Mike, just depends how near. But there are tons with 4 or 5 miles. Let me know the distance you are calling near and I will get you a list. Same for Bum Heller. I thought I put some up for Bum Heller already. Here are two links, just click on them. Travelodge, and the, Canalta Jurrasic. Funky link color Mike. As the weekend planned is a long weekend here, reservations should be made promptly for Bum Heller. If I have an idea of how many I can arrange a block booking at a better price possibly.
