Life is dull with average animals that you make better by raising them rough.

comments today from LL...

Consequently, practical simple farmer common sense and economic logic causes me to wonder why in the hell anyone in the beef business would continue to support that portion of the mainstream registered society who are persistantly chasing the 2% that are DEFINITELY more different than others....implying that 98% of our cattle today need continual changing for improvement/progress. Ooooohhhhh my gawd, that tradition must be considered one of the greatest marketing scams ever successfully conceived by mankind.

When someone blows about culling for a great cow herd it means they are having trouble breeding one...Scott Shively

You will always make more money on the front end saving money than on the back end with bragging rights calves.

Mike, that is it, we are from Neptune. Smile

Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like it's from Neptune.

Some Bill Lamont Quotes

"To build slowly until the cattle built their own reputation looked to me like the only way to go. To take them to (a certain large show) too soon is like putting a pony in the Derby just to amuse the crowd."

Although very experienced stockmen had won with Speckle Park steers at The Royal, Bill nevertheless knew that not everyone could do that, in the early years of the breed, due to lack of the experience needed to make a good presentation.

"We had cattle with good feet and good udders because all along we had been particular about such things."

"Some people's egos are far above their abilities."

"It takes a lot of work to get a good image back."

"I guess it's not a crime to trust another person."

"Success for some people, depends on being well known; for others it depends on never being found out."

And from Eileen Lamont:

"Why did people buy cattle from us because they liked what they saw - and then try to change them?"

Heavy culling is a waste of resources and a sign of past poor decisions.

There’s a darkness upon me that’s flooded in light
In the fine print they tell me what’s wrong and what’s right
And it comes in black and it comes in white
And I’m frightened by those that don’t see it

When nothing is owed or deserved or expected
And your life doesn’t change by the man that’s elected
If you’re loved by someone, you’re never rejected
Decide what to be and go be it

There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And there was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I’ll scream til I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

A truliner's only rules and regulations to obey are the unwritten natural laws exposed throughout history and any success or failure will be up to destiny.

"The absolutely only reason the industry thinks a crossbred beef cow is better is that we don't know how to create a more profitable purebred cow that could be absolutely more efficient than any non-renewable crossbred cow ever could hope to be, in fact we don't even know how to reduce the problems of any cow, but we're very good at increasing them."

O by the way they do it on our choice of feed and care, not what is said in the latest greatest publications of professors who make their living writing and selling high dollar additives. Yes they can make a living on sunshine and water. Bob Howard
