Interesting that color and color patterns can somewhat predict issues, both good and bad.

The sheep we have were started from a phenotypic selection about 50 years ago. Goal was white and polled. Owners without genetic thoughts always culled any animal that expressed too much color or had large scurs or horns. But they did not understand (or care to know) that the sibs and the parents keep the genes in the flock/breed. I began to select for traits I wanted and quickly learned that best size and growth in ram lambs was 90%+ as scurred lambs. In some flocks with more color than our sheep tend to express, the owners say that some with color are better sheep, whatever that means. So, what we see is sometimes what we get. The outside is linked to the inside.
