I know there's been some work on using ultrasound to determine when feedlot cattle are finished. Any idea what fat thickness range would correlate to "finished" with an acceptable yield grade? The subject is a Charolais bull, ten months old, jiggly fat, nearly 1500 lbs, twice as fat as most of the other bulls at 0.30 inches backfat.

(obviously not my bull- I've no real idea how to get an animal to eat enough north Carolina grass and hay to weigh anything close to that weight, or that fatness either, I'm guessing).
